Batman Sunday Newspaper Strip - Story 9

Long before PTSD was a thing that was more widely recognized, Dick seems awfully calm as he watches the trapeze artist.

September 23 - November 4 1944

(At the Fair)

This is an interesting and yet very straightforward story. A farmer upstate of Gotham City is in possession of some rare artwork that a dealer is willing to do anything to get his hands on, even murder. Of course, Batman and Robin stop him, but there are some wrinkles along the way, especially the death of a trapeze artist from the county fair circus. The fact that Dick calmly watches a trapeze artist and neither comments on the performance or gets triggered in any way is weird.

The one takeaway from the story is learning how to tell the difference between a murder and a suicide when it comes to hanging. Can't imagine any newspaper running this piece now.

And what's next, Citizens! We're on to Batman #26 and the return of the Cavalier! OK, I don't know about you, but I'm excited.
