"The Three Racketeers"

Before we begin, there is something of note to point out. This is the first issue of any Batman comic where the cover not only matches the story within, but the story itself if referred to in text on the cover. Batman and Robin Versus The Three Racketeers. I also like this cover as we see the Batplane in action.

The story itself is very simplistic and we'll see it being played out in the Batman: The Animated Series episode, "Almost Got Him". In our story, three men are playing cards and talk about their crimes that they would have gotten away with if it wasn't for Batman and Robin. The stories themselves are pretty straightforward, save for the one about the scientist who develops a means to have people become so lazy they eventually fall into a deep sleep like Rip Van Winkle.

As the stories conclude, a prison guard enters to tell the three it's time to return to their cells. I didn't go into detail here as the stories are pretty simplistic. Nothing is added in terms of the Batman mythos, but the issue is entertaining enough as it is.

We're on to the 10th issue of Batman starting tomorrow, Citizens!
